Our Story

Both Andrew and Susan knew early in their lives, around ages 9 or 10, that they wanted to be vets.

As animal lovers from the start, they held onto their dreams through years of schooling when they met at Kansas State in Veterinary school. After graduating with their DVMs in 1989, they moved to Indiana, both working at different practices, and then moved to NE working at various clinics. In 1993, Andrew started working at Heartland Pet Hospital and after a year, decided to buy the practice in 1994. Since then, Andrew and Susan have created a family atmosphere for pets and owners to feel cared for and receive high quality medical and preventative care to ensure a lasting human – pet bond.

They have three children: Jacob, Austin and Marie, and they also have 1 dog named Jackson, and 5 cats- Ziggy, Zoe, Halle, Simba and Panda Bear.

Andrew and Susan are members of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association.

Outside the office, Andrew is a crossfit enthusiast and enjoys watching football. Susan’s interests are Photography, Painting crafts, fostering abandoned animals and she is a Crossfit enthusiast.

The two are active in their community, with their team regularly serving at Abide, a local nonprofit, and attend at Bridge Church.
